PLA - Bio-based Plastic is our new favorite material. PLA is made from renewable fibers extracted from crops such as corn, wheat, and sweet potatoes. It functions much like traditional plastic, but with the crucial advantage of being 100% compostable in commercial composting facilities. At Fabelab, we love the material because it is versatile, compostable, and, best of all, not derived from fossil fuels.
