Good advice for functional accessories for the stroller:
Essential products

To you who want to read the blog:
We really spend a lot of time with our prams. That’s why I want to share some of the things that have made outings the best for me and my son. First and foremost, it’s about choosing the pram that best fits your needs – where you live, how much space you have, and what you need. I won’t go into detail about this, as I’m sure you already have a good grip on it. And if not, I can only recommend finding someone with expertise in that area.
I spent a crazy long time googling when my son was an infant. I lived in a small apartment in Copenhagen, so it was important for me to find a small combi-pram – like the one I have now. That said, I really explored a lot of the accessories that come with it. Because one thing is having a good pram – but there are also a lot of add-on products that can make the trip even better and easier for you.
And I’d like to go through some of those products with you.
Of course, many of the brands that make prams also make accessories that suit their specific models – such as sunshades, rain covers, etc. But I actually think some brands have thought a bit deeper about functionality and comfort – and they’ve worked better than the accessories that necessarily come with the pram you’ve bought.
That’s why I’ve bought a few different things for the pram. And I’ve managed to buy quite a bit before I found the products that actually worked – I was quite dissatisfied with some of the features at first.
The first thing I’d like to show you is the actual pram bag.
And here I actually had to buy three different ones before I found one that worked. This applies especially to you who – like me – use a combi-pram. Many of the pram bags available are made for the large prams, where the handle is flat and wide – one where the bag hangs more stably. This meant that the first bags I bought just slid down the handle all the time.
So I found a nice one with a lovely wide strap, which sits really securely on the combi-pram. And actually also on the large pram – or “the tank” as I call it. And it also fits really well on the stroller, if you make room for the strap – even when you’re about to use your fold-out stroller. A nice little strap comes with it, which you can attach to the two handles that are typically on small strollers. That way you can also use the bag there.
The strap is also super practical if you want to take the pram bag with you and don’t want to leave it hanging on the pram – for example, if you have many valuables in the bag. So you just click the strap on and take it with you like a regular bag.
What I really like about this model is that there’s a built-in little zipped bag. Here you can store more private things that shouldn’t necessarily be lying out in the open. It’s really smart – whether you choose this one or another model.
Another thing you should ensure is that there is space for two bottles. Because you need one for yourself and one for the baby. When the baby gets older, it might be a sippy cup, but in the beginning, it could be a bottle. And sometimes you want a coffee and some water. So two bottles are definitely an advantage!
Something else I appreciate is that there is an extra compartment that can be closed off. So it’s not just completely open and accessible to everyone. Here you can store everything you don’t want in your pockets – keys, small items, and loose stuff. And it’s just nice that it’s covered.
You can also easily keep your mobile phone down there. There’s actually a small dedicated mobile pocket – and I loved it! When you go on long walks with a sleeping baby, you often use your phone a lot – and it’s so nice that you don’t have to look for it all the time. So this pocket is really a favorite.
If you need extra storage space, apart from what’s under the pram, hooks are also a must-have. For instance, when you’ve been shopping or on a trip, where you’ve just bought a little extra. There are many different types of hooks, but I’ve made a version that is a little smaller and made of aluminum – which makes it really strong.
It can easily hold a shopping bag with groceries – or several bags with clothes if you’ve, for example, been to the Children’s Flea Market. It just attaches with Velcro, and it’s so small that you can keep it attached to the pram all the time. Alternatively, you can store it in the bag.
These little things have been worth their weight in gold for me – both when I’ve been on longer trips with the mothers’ group, out shopping, or just generally on the go. They really provide the extra space that you often lack because not everything can just be stored under the pram on that little shelf.
These two products have been really good, both for storage and for keeping things organized.
Next, we’ll look at the sun shade. I managed to have a variant produced that I came across – and I think it has so many clever details. I actually bought several different sun shades before I found this one, and it frustrated me a bit because the others didn’t work optimally. And I’d like to spare you from that – so you can understand why I’m so happy with this one.
For starters, there are many sun shades where you can attach screens in front, and they work fine. But something that’s really annoying is when you go on long walks and the sun comes from behind. Many screens don’t extend far enough to the sides, and then the sun still sneaks in – especially if you only have the one screen mounted. This means that the baby still gets the sun directly in their eyes.
When you choose one like this – a kind of sail – it covers all the way around. Both when the sun comes from the front, behind, and from the sides. What’s extra cool about this model is that it also has sides, so if the sun comes in from the side, the baby is still shaded.
And there’s a net at the top, so you can peek down at the baby if he or she is sleeping – just to check how things are going. Really smart. You can easily roll it up and fasten it if you want to have free access. You can also roll up and clip the sides here if there’s not too much sun, and you want to be able to see a bit from the side.
It’s super easy to take off, it attaches with hooks and can be adjusted, whether you have a small or large pram. It sits with a strap that you can tighten so that it fits perfectly.
It’s a really good sun shade that you can use for prams, combi-prams, and – as I do now – strollers. Right now, I’m using it for the stroller for my son, and it works really well.
Just a reminder: If you’re using a stroller where the child is facing away from you and there’s nothing to attach the screen to, this one won’t work – you’ll need another solution. But otherwise, this one is really good. I’ve been so happy with it!
It’s also water-repellent, so if it starts to drizzle, you can easily use it instead of the classic rain cover. A really good investment – a sun cover that fits well but still lets air come in from all sides, so there’s always fresh air in the pram. Mega nice!
Next, I’d like to show you a rain cover. This rain cover that I have with me works incredibly well! I wasn’t actually a big fan of the one that came with the pram, so I switched to this one instead.
What I love about it is that you can zip it all the way up – from both the one side and the other. This way you can just check the baby without taking it off completely. There’s also mesh on the sides to ensure air, but that can also be covered if you want. A cool little detail is that what you see here – maybe a bit hard to see in the video – is actually made of reflective material. So when it’s dark and raining, the pram really lights up.
Another smart gimmick is that the rain cover comes in a permanently attached pouch inside. So when you take it off, it can just be folded up and stored under the pram. The same goes for the sun shade – it doesn’t take up more space than the small pouch, and can also just be ready under the pram. This makes it super easy to have with you – whether the sun is shining or it’s raining.
There’s the bag, there are hooks, rain covers and sun shades. And we need it all – after all, we live in Denmark! It’s almost irrelevant what season it is, so it’s really nice to have everything with you. Especially when the trips become a bit longer.
I hope you find this useful. It’s so important when we go out that we feel comfortable – that we have things at hand, and that it’s easy to put on without having to fiddle too much with it – especially when we have a little baby with us in the pram.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out – I would love to share more with you. I hope you have some lovely strolls with your little baby 💛
