Lansinoh
The most essential brand for birth and breastfeeding. My highest recommendation.
Our Lansinoh family started over 30 years ago with a nursing mother – Resheda Hagen, when she embarked on what became the Lansinoh venture in 1978 in Portland, Oregon, when her first child was born. Resheda breastfed, but after several days her nipples went from sore to unbearably sore. When she received no relief from the available products, she reluctantly considered stopping breastfeeding. A leader from La Leche League encouraged her to hang on and recommended lanolin, but it was not available in stores.
Resheda's husband, a doctor, was able to find a one-pound jar of sheep fat at the hospital pharmacy, which he brought home to her. She used the lanolin on her painful nipples and felt immediate relief. Her nipples healed over the next few days, allowing her to continue breastfeeding successfully. Resheda Hagen began to highlight the benefits of “Pure Lanolin” as a treatment for sore nipples in nursing mothers.
Resheda Hagen founded her company in 1984 to offer nursing women a safe and effective alternative to the highly cosmetic products that were available for sore nipples – a significant reason for not establishing a successful breastfeeding relationship. In 1984, she decided to purchase lanolin in one-pound jars, which she repackaged into smaller containers and sold to nursing mothers.
When mothers choose to breastfeed, we believe they should have the support and encouragement they need to experience all the benefits of breastfeeding, and ensure the baby feels the same. We will always take our mothers seriously and their needs personally, creating high-quality products that mothers want to use and can trust to nurture their babies and develop the special bond only formed in motherhood.
