My five best tips for the upcoming mother:
Essential products

To you who want to read the blog:
Welcome to AlLuKos Universe 💛
In this video, I would like to share the five best tips with you that you can use when you are soon to become a mother. These five tips have been truly indispensable for me as I became a mother to my little son.
Tip 1: Prepare for your birth and pack your hospital bag
People always talk about packing clothes, chargers, and food etc., but there are also a good number of products that are good to have regarding the pain experienced after giving birth. After the birth, it really hurts in the lower abdomen when you have pushed a little person out. Make sure to have a peri bottle, postpartum socks, large pads (whether you give birth vaginally or by C-section) – you will bleed a lot, and it's important to have the right supplies.
Another good thing to bring is a blouse with buttons, not a zipper. It makes it easy to open without scratching the baby when you need to breastfeed in the hospital if you want to bring your own clothes.
So the first tip: Prepare not just for the practical things but also for those things that make it good for you so that you can be comfortable after giving birth.
Tip 2: Breastfeeding
If you are one of those mothers who want to breastfeed, there are some products I really want to recommend. For me, breastfeeding was a big part of my journey as a mother, and that's why it's important to have the right products to take care of the breasts. I would especially recommend wool nursing pads, which keep the breasts warm and reduce the risk of mastitis. And a few disposable pads, in case the breast leaks a lot.
A lanolin cream is also indispensable for caring for your nipples. They can become really sore, so it's good to be proactive and start applying from the beginning.
One of the best things I invested in was a nursing lamp. It allows you to easily turn the light on and off, and it lights at a low level so that you don't wake the baby. It holds battery for several days, which makes the breastfeeding experience much better as you can nurse safely without fully waking up.
Tip 3: Create a good nursing or feeding station
Whether you breastfeed or bottle-feed, make sure to have a really good station to breastfeed or feed. I call it a "feeding station" – a place where you have everything you need within reach.
I loved having a nice basket filled with the essentials: water, snacks, lanolin cream for the breasts, something to wipe with, remote control, Airpods – everything you will need while sitting and feeding the baby for hours. It makes it easier to relax and enjoy the moment.
Tip 4: Basic wool for your baby
Regardless of the season, it is important to ensure that your baby has some good basic wool. Even in summer, babies get cold quickly since they are so small and fine. Wool is fantastic for regulating temperature, and you can find both wool-silk and the classic wool suits.
I had my son at the end of May, and even though it was spring, I still used wool suits. It was only 12 degrees when he was born, so wool was necessary even though we had expected warmth. Make sure to have some wool for the baby – a hat for the ears and a nice blanket for the cooler days.
Tip 5: Hurry slowly
My last tip requires no products. My best advice is: Hurry slowly.
When you have a baby, hormones are running high, and your nervous system is on overdrive. It's a wild experience, and there's not necessarily time to do everything at a slow pace. We have only borrowed time to shower, use the toilet, or get something to eat, and all our basic needs are being challenged.
But try to listen in and tell yourself: "I can hurry, but I can do it at a calm pace." Allow yourself to breathe and check in, even if you're in a rush. It’s okay to take a moment for yourself even if you're rinsing your hair quickly and constantly listening for the baby's sounds.
Remember to take care of yourself
Even while taking care of your baby. Hurry, but hurry slowly 💛
