My five best tips for mom with baby:
Essential products

To you who want to read the blog:
Welcome to Allukos Universe.
In this video, I will share five really good tips for you who have had a baby and are well on your way with the whole new and fantastic journey of being a new mother.
First tip: Start early on what can become a really good bedtime routine.
It is a really good idea to start early on what can become a really good bedtime routine. I used the first long time mostly just at the breast and then my son just fell asleep. But it is recommended to incorporate some good habits early on, as it is something babies associate with security. So a good book I am really fond of is Night bear Tjugga, which creates sleep meditations for children. You can also get short versions of them.
I actually read that very early for my son, and even though it wasn't necessary, he knew it – he recognized the sounds from the book etc. Have a stuffed animal that is going to be his, and have it with him from the start, so he knows the smell and feeling of it and thus has a good sense of security with it. It can also be a melody that he recognizes. Or maybe you have a song you'd like to sing that can be associated with calming down.
I sang "The Elephant's Lullaby" for my son, and it was a routine right from when he was newborn, and then I used it later, so he could associate it with it being time to sleep.
Tip number two: Diapers sizes.
When my son was small, there was always a major topic of conversation in the mothers' group about where to find the best deals. Often you could get three packages for this price, five packages for that price, and then you could easily buy too many. One tip can be to avoid buying too many packages at once because they can quickly become too small. A sign that the diapers are too small is not just the weight indicated on the package, but also if the baby pees out of the diaper. That was classic with my son.
When he started peeing out of the diaper, especially when he was sleeping, it was because the diaper had become too small. We then went up a size, and then it stopped. So regarding diapers, especially at the beginning, don't buy too many packages at once, because suddenly the diaper is too small, or your baby starts peeing out of the diaper, which can be a sign that you should go up a size.
Tip number three: You have a routine until you get a new one.
It is a bit like when you have a viewpoint, then you take a new one. It can be everything from bath time, changing time, or getting ready to sleep in the stroller. From one day to the next, the routine can suddenly not work. And that is super frustrating. As a mother, there is something we need – something that works and provides structure. But promise me that you are a bit curious.
Babies change, they have new needs and form new opinions. Therefore, there will also be times when you need to look at whether the routine you have had for a while is actually the best for you and the baby. Sometimes the best thing we can do is adjust the routine.
Tip number four: When you start the journey with purees and porridge.
When you start the journey with purees and porridge and the baby has to learn to eat, it is good to be a little prepared with some products that make it easier for you, so it doesn't become too cumbersome to do it all the time. I have been really happy to have some products where I could make several portions that could be reused, so I didn't just have to throw something away all the time. So have some containers and bowls with lids, have some where you can make small portions for several days, have some smaller, flexible spoons, and not least some practical products that you can take on the go.
There are really many products, but prepare as well as you can to make it easy for yourself and not have to cook all the time. In the beginning, it is mostly about giving your baby taste experiences. I loved to use my own recipes as much as possible, so he could taste all sorts of things.
Tip number five: To hurry calmly.
I don’t need products to show this, but my best tip is: hurry calmly.
Promise me that you are present within yourself. When you have a baby, the hormones and nervous system are working overtime. It is the wildest experience, if I may speak for myself. And this idea that we don't necessarily have the option not to hurry, because we only have borrowed time to take a shower, go to the toilet, have something to eat. All our basic needs are challenged when we have a little baby.
So I just want to say, try to feel and allow yourself to take it at a calm pace while you get things done. You can absolutely do that, even if you are washing your hair and only have a couple of minutes while listening for whether the baby is awake or sleeping.
Remember to take care of yourself even when you are taking care of your baby. Hurry yourself, but do it calmly.
